Titillating Thursdays : Toy Story 3

This movie goes way back. With the first movie having been released in 1995, I can't help but reminisce about my childhood when Toy Story 3 came out. Truth is, I practically grew up with this cartoon, noting that I am still young enough to have been able to appreciate all of them. Some people actually appeal that children today are too excited for something that they really didn't grow up with, others who are more possessive would say that this is "our" cartoon. After all, we did grow up as Andy did. What they don't realize is that a cartoon is actually really for everyone of all ages, which is why despite the fact that most adults don't really care about cartoons anymore, they can still be moved by such a movie. What is amazing about this movie is that despite it's craziness and playfulness, it actually sends us a pretty good moral lesson.

Any kid would agree that a story isn't complete without a good moral. However, what's interesting about this is that the moral, isn't really simply thrown in your face. Just as you might have thought that the moral is loving your toys and holding on to what you have, it all suddenly changes and one realizes that sometimes, we have to let things go. It is better after all for us to pass on to others the same things that we have enjoyed so that they too might have a chance to share in such an experience.

In the end, I would have to admit that watching this movie did make me a bit teary-eyed. But I could proudly say that it was worth the tear, after all real men cry too.
